By Sean Duffy

Medina, OH- Week 5 of high school football is here and conference play is in full swing for the Suburban League. Our spotlight game saw two top teams in the American Division, the 3-1 Barberton Magics travel to Highland to take on the 4-0 Hornets. Two teams boasting fantastic athletes all over the field on both sides of the ball, provided fans with a back and forth game that saw the visiting Magics secure a 28-21 win in the closing seconds of the game.

The Magics were led by RB Cameron Macon and his four rushing touchdowns on the night. Macon was the workhorse for the Magics providing a spark in both the running and passing game and provided the games most exciting play of the night, a punishing 25 yd run for his third TD of night.

Barberton’s defense had a tall task in trying to corral a very potent Hornets offense led by QB Aaron Filips, RB Lukas Stiles, and RB Bryce Turek; All three would score rushing TDs on the night. However Barberton’s defense did a a great job of limiting big plays from the Hornets and forcing key turnovers late in the game to give the Magics offense an opportunity to win the game.
