Mentor Advances to Kent Regional Final

The sixth seeded Mentor Cardinals advanced to the Kent Regional Final with a 2-1 overtime victory over second seeded University School. The Cardinals first goal came late in the second period when Eric Toth put one between the pipes. Minutes later, University School tied the game with a goal of their own.

The two teams would remain tied at the end of regulation. In overtime, Brad Backston netted the game winner for the Cardinals at the 6:46 mark. Mentor Goalie John Rampe stopped 37 shots in the victory.

The Cardinals advance to the Kent Regional Final against top seeded Gilmour Academy. The game will be played March 4 at 7:15pm at the Kent State University Ice Arena. The winner advances to the State Tournament in Columbus.
