SOT Spotlight Game: Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders vs Barberton Magics

Barberton, OH– We are now at the halfway point of the 2023 High School Football season, and as with any season there are teams that are underperforming and overperforming, the 2023 Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders are in the camp of the latter. Kent Roosevelt is a surprising 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Suburban League American Conference. The Rough Riders are coming off a big 28-14 win over Cuyahoga Falls in week 4 and now face a battle tested stalwart of the American Conference in Barberton. The Magics are 2-2 overall and 0-1 on in the conference, coming off a Week 4 victory over Tallmadge. It was clear from the outset that the Magics were too much for the visiting Rough Riders. Barberton wasted no time building an insurmountable 54-0 Halftime lead.

Barberton would also get a touchdown on the ground from RB Robert Davis, and the defense would also get in on the scoring action as well as they capped off the first half with a 30 yd pick six from DB Noah Dehart. A running clock and a scoreless 2nd half ensured the Magics would come away with a dominating 54-0 victory.

The Rough Riders fall to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Suburban League American Conference. Kent Roosevelt will look to right the ship in Week 6 on the road against Copley.

Barberton improves to 3-2 over all and 2-0 in the Suburban League American Conference. Barberton RB Xzavier Macon led the Magics with 3 Rushing TDs in the conference. Barberton will look to continue the winning streak in Week 6 as they travel to Highland.
