In a highly anticipated matchup between two 2020 playoff teams, Avon came out of the gate and looked every bit the part of a state semifinalist. Led by a smothering defense and a powerful running game, the Eagles started the 2021 season with a dominating 38-0 victory over the Brunswick Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils came in with high expectations but due to the Eagle’s swarming defense and early penalties, the Blue Devils could not find a rhythm on offense.
Gavin Ehrhardt and Sam DeTillio each had two touchdowns for the Eagles. Freshmen QB Nolan Good also added a late touchdown pass in the victory. Avon goes to 1-0 on the season and will travel to Medina next week. Brunswick falls to 0-1 and will travel to Olmsted Falls.
