Rocky River, OH– It is Week 4 in the 2023 Northeast Ohio High School Football season, this stage of the season usually means the beginning of conference play. This is certainly the case for the Great Lakes conference, however with a bit of a twist. Week 4 in the GLC is cross over week which has some interesting matchups, none more interesting than our spotlight game featuring the Lakewood Rangers (2-1) visiting the Rocky River Pirates (2-1). Both these teams come into this matchup off a Week 3 losses and are eager to get back on track, it the battle for the bridge in Week 4 of the GLC
The Pirates were dominant from the opening kickoff. Senior QB Julian Patti threw 5 touchdown passes in the first half, Senior RB Nick DiSalvo had a touchdown run of 7 yds, as Rocky River took a Commanding 43-0 Lead into halftime.
Lakewood found themselves with a running clock to start second half but would not give up the fight as they would outscore the Pirates 14-3 in the second. The Rangers would score on a 16 yd TD pass from Avery Holt to Alex Symons, Lakewood would also score on a 7 yd TD run from RB Carreon Ford. Rocky River would secure the 46-14 victory.
Lakewood Falls to 2-2 overall, 0-1 in Great Lakes Conference, The Rangers were led offensively by QB Avery Holt who had a TD pass on the night, and Carreon Ford who had a rushing TD. Lakewood will look to right the ship in Week 5 as they host Elyria Catholic.
Rocky River improves to 3-1 overall, 1-0 in Great Lakes Conference. The Pirates were led offensively by Senior QB Julian Patti who threw for 5 TDs on the night. RB Nick DiSalvo also led the way with punishing runs and a TD. Rocky River will look to keep on the winning track in Week 5 as they travel to face Valley Forge
