SOT Spotlight Game of the Week: North Olmsted Falls vs Fairview Warriors

Fairview Park, OH- Well, here we are week 8, three weeks left in the 2023 High School Football season! it is the beginning of the final chapter of many teams’ 2023 story. the challenge for these teams is to see if they can end a disappointing 2023 campaign on a upbeat note to carry them into the offseason. Sports on Tap’s spotlight game centers around two teams in just such situation. The North Olmsted Eagles sit at 1-6 on the year, having secured their first win in week 7 against Elyria Catholic. Fairview is also 1-6 on the year having lost 3 straight games coming into this contest. the warriors are in their final year in the Great Lakes Conference and look to go out on a winning note before making the jump to the Chagrin Valley Conference in 2024. Both these teams may not be at the top of the heap record wise, but it is sure to be an interesting Great Lakes Conference matchup.

It was clear from the opening kickoff that North Olmsted was the better team. The Eagles scored 35 unanswered points in the first half, below are the highlights of the Eagles first half scoring barrage.

North Olmsted’s defense held the Warriors to no points in the first half and spent the majority of the game in the Fairview backfield. The constant pressure led to a pick six by Lawrence Stanley. North Olmsted held a 35-0 lead at halftime.

The Warriors faced a running clock in the second half but were able to put up 14 points by scoring on a pick six by Nolan Reis. North Olmsted would respond with a TD pass from Tommy Horsfall to Lawrence Stanley, Fairview would find the end zone again on a 18 yd TD pass from Burke Lowry to Savijan Harris. It would prove not enough as North Olmsted would leave Fairview with a 42-14 victory.

Fairview falls to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the Great Lakes Conference West Division. The Warriors got touchdowns from Nolan Reis’ pick six, and a TD pass from Burke Lowry to Savijan Harris. Fairview will look to notch its second win of the season in Week 9 as they host Elyria Catholic.

North Olmsted improves to 2-6 overall and 2-1 in Great Lakes Conference Division. The Eagles were led offensively by QB Tommy Horsfall who had 3 TD passes on the night. RB Michael Passafiume also had 2 rushing touchdowns on the night. North Olmsted will look to keep their winning streak alive in Week 9 as they host Westlake.
