It’s finally here! Week 1 of the high school football season. For our featured game we traveled to Amherst Mercy Health Stadium in Amherst where the Valley Forge Patriots took on the Comets from Amherst. This was a physical game that was won up front with the Offensive Line play. The Patriots won that battle.
The duo of Kentrell Marks and Eddie Starks were too much for the Comets defense who had trouble stopping the run on this night. Marks had 3 touchdown runs and Starks had 2 touchdowns. Not to mention both backs combined for over 400 yards running. Give credit to the Patriots defense they kept the Comets offense in check. Comets starting quarterback Christian Heckmann left the game with a hurt hand and did not return after half. The lone Comets touchdown came on a short touchdown run by running back Nick Mazze.
Valley Forge wins big 40-9 to get out to a 1-0 start. They will travel to another Southwestern foe when they travel to North Ridgeville. Amherst fell to 0-1 and will travel to Riverside.
