Mentor’s defense held Strongsville’s offense in check all night, and forced some key turnovers deep into Cardinals territory. Before half the Cardinals would get one more score with 28 seconds left from Mentor RB Mitchell Waite who ran it in from 3 yards out. At half the Cardinals led 21-6.

The second half was a stalemate, with some action but no scoring. Then, as the 4th quarter began, the rain started to downpour making conditions slick, and tough to hold onto the ball. Strongsville would get one more field goal from Will Hryszko but that would be it. Falling to the Cardinals 21-9.

The atmosphere was electric and both teams were ready for a big GLC game in front of a great crowd.

It took 3 plays for Rocky River to strike first on a 45 yard touchdown run by RB Tommy Bebie. He was doing it all in the game, supplying the offense with big plays, but making crucial tackles on the defensive side of the ball as well. Lakewood would counter with a talented running back of their own in Hakeem Quran. Quran also played defense and made some nice open field tackles on the night. He answered with a screen pass from QB Luke Winters that hit pay dirt and tied the game at 7-7 with :46 left in the first half.
