North Olmsted, OH- A Week 6 matchup that used to be two Southwestern Conference foes battled as Great Lakes Conference foes this week. A perfect night for football under the lights on a Friday night as an important Great Lakes Conference matchup between the Westlake Demons (2-3) and the North Olmsted Eagles (4-1) featured our SOT Game of the Week.
It was the Eagles striking first on an 85 yard opening kickoff return by WR Eric Wasen outrunning the Demons special teams. Westlake would answer with a nice drive, that led to a touchdown run from RB Arrington Taylor. Both teams moved the ball efficiently but after one quarter the score was tied at 7 a piece.
The second quarter started and North Olmsted was in the red zone once again. QB Xavier Balson fumbled the snap but grabbed it and went around the right side for a touchdown outrunning the Westlake defense to the endzone. Westlake would answer with a RB Will Ostrowski 45 yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14 with 6:58 left in the second quarter. The second quarter had North Olmsted score two more times and have a 27-14 lead at halftime.
Westlake would get as close as 27-20 with a pick 6 by DB Cooper Rummel. A great job by the Eagles running attack as RB Sammy Capps carried the eagles in the second half for the big 41-20 win! The Eagles defense also stopped a really good offense in the second half.
North Olmsted improves to 5-1 on the season and a top the GLC. They will take on Bay (3-2) in Week 7. Westlake falls to 2-4 and will host Elyria Catholic (4-2).
