Game Recap: Berea-Midpark High School Boys Varsity Wrestling beat North Olmsted 47-24

Nine Titans were bout winners Thursday night at North Olmsted, leading to a 47-24 team victory for the Southwestern Conference’s top team Berea-Midpark Titans. Berea-Midpark improves to 5-0 overall and 5-0 in SWC tussles. The Titans have outscored their dual competition by a combined score of 243-117 in five duals, an average ledger of 48.6 – 23.4.

Shane Heil, Caden Wendling, Jimmy Paletta and Zach Porch were each responsible for tacking on bonus points. Heil and Porch registered first period falls, Paletta a pin the second period, while Wendling earned a tech-fall.

Spencer Reardon and Brian Kennedy collectively scored six points for the Orange and Blue. Reardon concluded with an 8-6 decision over North Olmsted’s Gavin Beasly while Kennedy pulled out a 6-4 decision over Searlas Kean.

UP NEXT
The Titans travel to Oregon Clay High School for the two-day Maumee Bay Classic on Friday January 17th and Saturday January 18th.

GAME RECAP

The Berea-Midpark wrestling team (4-0, 4-0 SWC) won 10 of 14 bouts to earn a 54-21 road victory at Lakewood.

Earning four bout wins by forfeit, Ian Taylor (126), Shane Heil (132), Spencer Reardon (152) and Daniel Yu (285) all picked up six points by way of the pin.

Jimmy Paletta (182) went the distance with Lakewood’s Shamique Bryant and used a dominant first period to finish with a 6-2 decision victory. Zach Porch (195) started fast in his bout, earning five quick points on his way to defeating Spencer Reynolds in a 9-4 decision.

UP NEXT
The Titans will be back in action on Thursday January 16th when they travel to North Olmsted for an SWC dual. Action begins at 7:00 p.m.

On Thursday night, the Demons Wrestling Team hosted the North Ridgeville Rangers to kick off their 2019-2020 SWC Conference Season. The Demons won by a score of 42-24!

Scoring for the Demons were the following:

Midpark wrestling team (1-0) seized a 40-31 road victory at Olmsted Falls Thursday evening.

The Titans registered bonus points in five bouts, highlighted by Pino Dipierro’s first-period fall in 0:54 seconds at 120 pounds. Jimmy Paletta (182 lbs) garnered a second-period fall to start the match. Juniors Shane Heil (126 lbs) and Zach Porch (195 lbs) picked up major decisions over their opponents and senior Caden Wendling recorded a second period tech fall at 138 pounds.

Additional Titan victors included Daniel Yu (285 lbs), Austin Neel (106 lbs) and Brian Kennedy (113 lbs).

UP NEXT
The Titans will travel to Independence High School Friday and Saturday for the North Coast Classic Wrestling Tournament. Action gets underway at 3 p.m. on Friday.

G&G Fitness “Coach of the Week” Head Coach Steve Bosko from Berea-Midpark Wrestling.

IT’S the G&G Fitness Coach of the Week!

This weeks winner is Berea-Midpark Titans Wrestling Head Coach Steve Bosko!

Coach Steve Bosko was recently names Coach of the Year in the SWC!  Coach Bosko sent three Titans wrestlers to State this year.  In the Southwestern Conference he had 3 wrestlers (Below) First Team All Conference Honors, and 170lbs – Jimmy Paletta finished with second team All Conference Honors.  Coach Bosko’s commitment and hard work continues to show. Congratulations to Coach Steve Bosko on all of your success this year!

Shane Heil finished seventh overall in the 120 pound weight class at the OHSAA Individual Wrestling Tournament.  The finish and achieving a spot on the podium is a first for the Titans wrestling program. Heil finished the year with a record of 46-13

Junior Pino Dipierro  finished the season with a record of 41-7.

Caden Wendling made his first trip to Columbus to participate in the OHSAA Tournament.  He finished the season with a record of 42-11.
